FINESSE!

Another weekend another 40k session. Got to play against Beardy One BA again with my FINESSE! Dark Eldar lol. Beardy One was going to join a local tourney and needed to play-test his BA list, we decided to play a mission from the tournament.

Mission: Land Grab
Objectives:
Annihilation: The player with the most Kill Points as defined in
the Warhammer 40K rulebook (pg 91) at the end of the game
achieves this mission objective.

Battlefield Control: The player that controls the most table
quarters at the end of the game achieves this mission objective.
To control a table quarter there must be a Scoring Unit in the
table quarter at the end of the game and the quarter must not
be contested. A table quarter is contested if there are enemy
units present (any unit, whether scoring or not). A unit may
only control or contest ONE table quarter at a time. If a unit is
spread between multiple table quarters, the unit is considered
to control or contest the table quarter containing a MAJORITY
of that unit. If this is unclear, then randomly determine which
table quarter that unit is controlling or contesting.

Lead by Example: A player achieves this mission objective by
having a model from an HQ unit within 6” of the tactical marker
at the center of the table at the end of the game. Both players
can achieve this mission objective.

Highlights of the game
-3 Beastmaster, 4 razorwing birds, 5 khymera and 5 wyches charge a 10men assault marine + a 10men tactical marine. Was not able to kill them off and a counter-charge by a DC squad with angry librarian + surviving mehreenzs manage to decimate beast squad and needing insane courage, beast squad + wyches promptly flee  real space (back to the webway)
-Haemonculus open(shot) dark gate at a BA rhino with assault marines and roll 1 for damage, the dark tentacles shaking the rhino, unable to drag it down into the darkness.
-Archon with 2 incubi charge a 5men terminator squad and lose combat by 1. Treacherous Archon survived the combat but decided to flee, was eventually blast apart by autocannon.

I decided to call it on turn 5 as I only have 10 warriors left and have no chance of winning.

Annihilation - BA 14: DE 1
Battlefield Control - BA 3: DE 0
Lead by Example - BA 0: DE 0

BA win with 2 mission objectives!

Got to apologize to Krom that he came but did not play again due to time constraint.

Credits and mission taken from here.

Got some Game Science dice from Grimcron over at http://grimcron.wordpress.com/
Used them for this game and quite impress by the results, even spread of results and I have never pass so many 4+ cover saves before. Reason why my big beast squad with wyches could not wiped out the 10+10 marines was I switch back to my "cursed" dice due to the massive amt of attacks. Dice blaming FTW!

Injured Punk Dark Eldar

Inspired by gaming buddy Skanwy painting logs over at the Ward Save (http://skanwy.blogspot.com/). I decided to paint something small also.

While watching GE2011 on the TV for the whole night, painted up an objective marker I named "Injured Punk Dark Eldar".

The idea started when gaming buddy Jaeroler mentioned that the old DE warriors look very "punk-ish". With this I  took an old DE warrior, chop it up, green stuffs here and there, stick some pointy stuffs and not forgetting our favourite skull decoration and done.

Came up with some fluff for this objective.
The injured punk DE a true born belonging to a noble house. Shot by bolters, right arm blown off, left hand slice by bolter round and same round exploded in the gut. The Kabal left him behind after an unsuccessful real space raid.
The noble house Archon demand his rescue and return to the regenerative chambers of Commorragh.
Imperial wants to capture and "interrogate" him or burn/kill it.
Chaos just wants to eat his soul.
Necrons need some flayed skin to wear.
Orks SMASH puny eldar.

-BA also score 1 point for every "martyrs" unit (DC stuffs, and blood thirst units) that get killed.
-End game, a D6+1 would be roll and if the result is lesser/equal than the BA score, BA wins.

BA auto get 1st turn and 1 attack bike suffer from blood thirst.

Deployment
BA must deployment everything on table, 6" from the centre of table. Most BA unit cluster together.
DE reserve everything

Turn 1
BA
-Blood thirst attack bike, assault marines rhino move to the left flank near a ruin.
-Normal attack bike + DC rhino move forward near a tank trap.
-Sanguinor + JP priest + 10 assault marines decided to jump into a ruin 1 to get cover saves. 5 assault marines + priest crash into the ruin killing themselves... LOL WTFBBQ pwn Sanguinor also crash taking a wound from the ruins... (freaking hilarious for both me and beardy one)
DE
-reserved...

Turn 2
BA
-5 assault marines disembark and walk into ruin 1.
DE
-Only Archon + incubi with raider came in from long table edge near the normal attack bike + DC rhino.
-Raider shot the assault marine rhino stunning it.

-Rhino with 6 DC, flame and shot the archon unit, again shadow field and incubi warsuit saved all wounds.
-Sanguinor fly down from ruins (pass Dangerous this time lol) to charge the archon unit. Archon manage to deal an unsaved wound on Sanguinor but Eternal warrior protect him from ID. Sanguinor struck back and killed 3 Incubis, Sanguinor proceed to save all wounds from the remaining Incubi attacks.  Losing by 2, archon decided to flee! (Beardy one gave the dark eldar a new nickname -> HUM-dar)
DE
-Ravager came in and shot the assault marines rhino, shaking it twice lol....
-warriors and true born came in but range and heavy weapon prevented them from shooting.
-Wep-less raider tank shocked the 5 assault marines, killing 1 marine who tried to death or glory.

Turn 4
BA
-Remaining 4 JP assault marines, fly off the table to escape.
-Empty assault marine rhino flat out to escape.
-DC rhino move next to the assault marines, the DC disembarked and ran nearer to the DE warriors.
-Assault marines embarked into the DC rhino.
-Blood thirst attack bike shot the archon raider and wreck it.
-Sanguinor move nearer to table edge, 2-3" from "escaping".
DE
-Wyches came in with raider near sanguinor and charge sanguinor. Raider DL missed sanguinor. Sanguinor struck 1st and only kill 2 wyches. Wyches struck back and dealt too many wounds for the 1 wound Sanguinor to save, killing the ectoplasm blood angel.
-Warriors and trueborn move away from the incoming death coy.
-Ravager shot the rhino with 4 assault marines and rolled "snake eyes" for armour pen...

BA: 2 point

Turn 5
BA
-Assault marines in rhino flat out to escape.
-DC bolter the warriors and killed 2.
-DC charge into warriors and killed 12, making them flee almost off table.
-Blood thirst attack bike shot the wych raider and missed.
DE
-Warriors flee off table.
-wyches embark on raider and move away from the blood-craze biker.
-ravager flatout to escape the incoming DC.
-trueborn continue to move away from the psycho death coy.

BA: 4 point

Turn 6
BA
-blood-thirst biker shot down the wych raider.
-DC mass bolters trueborn to death.
DE
-surviving ravager flatout to keep out of reach of the "martyrs" stuffs (Death coy and blood thirst biker)

Game end on turn 6.

BA: 4 points
Needing a 4 for DE win, I rolled a 5 winning the game.

End game thoughts:
Pretty funny game, from BA crashing into ruins and trying to run away from the psycho/blood crazed units. Made a mistake to reserve everything, should have deployed the ravager to take advantage of its range and shoot down all the BA transport  making it harder for them to escape.

1st game with 5th edition DE, and I feel they are still very fast and deadly. Speed to escape and move to advantageous positions, deadly fire/close combat powers to deal with almost everything. Absolutely love this book, this book also have other very interesting units/toys to try and could make a huge variety of  lists.

Orks vs DE (1.5k) Battle mission Batrep

Played a game today, using my orks. Would be playing against Krom's DE. We decide on battlemission. Winning the roll off , and rolling 2 for mission, we would be playing Blitzkrieg (German, "lightning war" is an anglicized word describing all-mechanized force concentration of tanks, infantry, artillery and air power, concentrating overwhelming force and rapid speed to break through enemy lines, and once the latter is broken, proceeding without regard to its flank.)

Mission: Blitzkrieg
Deployment: Battle mission deployment
Objectives: 3

1500 Nids vs Dark Eldar

Had a good game over this weekend. This time against DE. Good game but I still struggle against armour!! Ughhhh....anyways, I have ordered 3 Hive Guard to shoot down those pesky skimmers and flyers. My big creatures will tear the slower heavy vehicles. I'll post my new list later but here's this week's game.

The photos can actually be found here: http://picasaweb.google.com/enrgie/07042010#

I have included captions at the bottom and you can view my comments there! I won't spoil the ending so go over and take a peek!

40k Planetstrike DE vs SM 1k

Tried a planetstrike game last wk. My 1st planetstrike game and barely know the planetstrike rules. Went into the battle like a headless Archon.

We decided to go with the 1st mission (planetfall) and 1 objective as both me and my opponent are new to planetstrike and using this game to learn the new stuffs.

The game was played with actual models, though no photos were taken as my camera was on loan to a friend. Trying out a new format of battle report.

Attacker - Dark eldar
Atk Stratagem - Dawn assault
Defender - Space marine (vanilla marines)
Def Stratagem - Power generator
Planetstrike mission - Planetfall
Objective: 1 bastion

Legend.
Pedro kantro Darnath Lysander was the HQ.

Pre game map.

Defender (SM)
-Deploy 1 unit of 6 scouts in the ruins.
-1 unit of 5 terminators behind the aegis def lines.
-pedro + captain + 1 unit of 5 terminators deploy inside the bastion.
-1 unit of 10 tactical marines with rhino in reserve.

Attacker (DE)
- Roll 4 firestorm
- Aiming the scouts, non hit... all scatter the perimeter outside the ruins....

Unlucky pre-game rolls for me... onto DE turn 1.

DE (turn 1)
-Raider park at edge of ruins. Archon+incubi dismount 2" into ruins and charge into the scouts inside the ruins.
-scouts easily decapitated.
-talos Deepstrike and charge the terminators.(error here, misread the shock&awe rule)
-talos deal 2 wounds but was saved by terminators invul, in return ate alot of pfs.
-Dawn assault in effect, cant see anything in the dark...
-need a 4 for dawn assault to end, I roll a 4... (will be shot to bits by SM next turn)

SM (turn 1)
-rhino reserve came from atk table edge, flame + shot the warriors and they panic off
-1 warrior + 1incubi die from mass storm bolters, cyclone missile, intercepter gun, h.bolter

DE (turn 2)
-Archon retinue embark and raider flatout towards aegis def line.
-2nd warr sq Dark lance the bastion, no dmg.
-ravager shaken rhino and killed 3 tactical marines.
-Jetbike enter play from table edge and charge into terminators, killing 1 and losing 1.

SM (turn 2)
-Tactical marines embark and rhino pop smoke.
-Terminiators PFs jetbikes to bloody pulp.
-Mass fire from bastion cause 2 pen, 1 glance on raider. Cover sv both pen. Glancing cause wep (dark lance) destroyed.
-rhino hunter killer missile miss ravager.

DE (turn 3)
-ravager + 2nd warr sq fire at rhino only shaken it. ( damn smoke cover sv!!)
-3rd warr sq come in from reserve.
-archon + incubi assault terminators wiping them out and conslidate behind aegis def line.

SM (turn 3)
-tactical marines dismount and flame+bolter the DE warr sq killing 8, but warr sq(left 2 guys) pass their morale!
-concentrate firepower from bastion+SM did not do any dmg to archon and incubi.

DE (turn 4)
-archon+incubi embark raider to hide.
-3rd warr sq dark lance bastion, no dmg.
-ravager + 2nd warr sq killed 5 marines, tactical marines pass morale also!

SM (turn 4)
-bastion+SM+rhino concentrate firepower on 3rd warr sq, killing 7 and panic them off table.
-2 tactical marine assault 2nd warr sq killing them easily.

DE (turn 5)
-ravager killed the remaining tactical marines.
-raider move to capture bastion. (objective)

SM (turn 5)
-bastion+SM+rhino fired on raider, exploding it... 1 incubi died in the explosion.
-A "5" is rolled, game goes to turn 6...

DE (turn 6)
-ravager shaken the rhino again!
-archon stunned the bastion with his agonizer.

SM (turn 6)
-SM HQ+terminators leave bastion and assault the archon.
-Archon and incubi killed 2 terminators.
-Archon failed 2+ invul save and died.... smashed to bits by PFs.
-incubi cut down by pedro and captain.
-A "4" rolled, game goes to turn 7.

DE (turn 7)
-ravager last ditch effort to kill off the terminators, all wounds saved by invul.

SM (turn 7)
-Mass fire power from everything the SM had shot at the ravager, wrecking it.
-DE tabled!

Game ends
VICTORY TO SPACE MARINES!!

End game thoughts
long live the corpse emperor!! hehehe

I was too hasty with my HQ raider, rushing it forward solo too early and exposing it to unnecessary risk. I should also bring more raider squads to rush in during turn 5 onwards. Hiding them behind ruins if they came in early during the game. Using warrior squads on foot were just too slow and they end up getting slaughter. Bad mistake not using DE advantage of mobility.
Back to drawing board with new list.

Jumping into DE

Not much update this month...

Following my comp MB dying, my graphic card (8800GTS) decided to die as well. It died at the right time also... 1mth after the 2yrs warranty ended (nice timing)... without warranty it became a very expensive piece of paper weight (cost me S$425, 2yrs ago). Bought a cheapo ATI 4350 for $58 to tide me over until I got cash to get a decent graphic card.

Jumping into DE

I always like armies that can move very fast, have bits of everything -shooting/assault and I prefer very offensive armies. Single out Dark eldar/eldar/nids.
Wanted to go with eldar at 1st but after calculating the $$$ cost, it was even more expensive than expanding my current ork army. Nids was slighty less expensive as compared to eldar but been assault orientated I drop nids as well. DE fulfil all the requirements and I decided to jump into DE.

Bought 2 DE battleforce, a talos, 3 blisters of incubi, and traded 4 succubus/wyches.

Need 2 more boxes of ravagers , a raider and box of de corsairs for wyches conversion. I could field a 1.5k+ army.
