Fantasy batrep 2250 HE VS VC + OK

With the release of 8th edition WH fantasy recently, and getting hold of the rule book, we are back to fantasy. Had a test game against Krom's HE. Due to insufficient models on my side and Beardy One bringing his ogres. We had a 2vs1 (2250) game.

Mission: Blood and glory
HE break pt: 3
HE fortitude: 6 ( I think)
OK + VC break pt: 3
OK + VC fortitude: 5 (counting only 1 army general)

Game end on HE turn 3, with victory to HE.

Highlights of the game:

VC
-Vampire lord with frost blade in a unit of 30 grave-guards charged and caught a unit of shadow warriors, chase away a chariot and a unit of archers.
-Vampire lord on turn 3 decided to go crazy and cast "Winds of undeath" on 4 PD. Getting IF easily but HE mage had "Trickster pendant" forcing Vamp lord to roll miscast twice - A 5 and 4 was rolled and 4 was chosen. The "Dimensional cascade" down vamp lord to 1 wound and killed 18 GG... and 6 HE archers.
-Vamp lord + GG with standard  was mass RBT to death, effectively losing the game for the evil side.

-30 horde skeletons with spears was combined charged by 2 chariots and a unit of silver helms. Losing combat by 15, the skeletons had 14 left after wounds and crumble to dust.

-Necromancer on corpse cart was charged (overrun) by a chariot, impacts hits killing the necromancer instantly who decided to stand in front to block the speeding chariot. Zombies was able to flank the chariot and combine atks from the undead destroyed the chariot. (Zombies was on steroids and dealt 2 wounds)

-29 ghouls was charged by another chariot but ghouls won combat due to numbers.

OK
- A slave giant was charged by a chariot, head butt + thunder stomp decimate the chariot.
-Lead blechers was sniped by RBT before getting charged and wiped out by silver helms + chariot.
-Gut magic 2D6 str 2 no ar sv spell was used on silver helms but was promptly dispelled.

HE
-HE fluff most of his shooting rolls as Krom's HE army was very shooty. Rolled 5 dice - 5 ones LOL.
-With only a lvl 1 wizard, there was not much magic action on HE side.

End game thoughts
-Big block of infantry FTW. 30 at least if the unit have decent armour saves. 40-50 if they have paper armour to be able to absorb the initial atks and get steadfast before help arrives/ win by CR.
-HW+ shield good for infantry blocks that have crap offensive abilities.
-Monster creatures with thunder stomp oooooo POWER!
-The new magic system is fun fun fun LOL!!!

Looking forward to more games of fantasy and budgeting for more SHINY minis.

WH fantasy VC vs CHAOS (daemons + mortals) 2k

Played a combine game last week, with me using DOC and DF using VC and DT using chaos mortals. No picture was taken (too tired from lack of sleep the night before). Just a summary of the how the various armies perform.

Daemons list
-------------

herald of tzeentch (gen)
flames of tzeentch
spell breaker

Blue scribe special character

pink horrors x 21
FC
Icon of sorcery

pink horrors x 17
FC
Icon of sorcery

flamers x 6

------
1002
------

VC list (not exact)
-------------------
Vampire lord
+pd + magic lvl items+ ghoul king

3x vampire
+pd + magic lvl items some have ghoul king + book of arkhan

corpse cart x 1
unholy lodestone

ghouls x 10
ghouls x 10
ghouls x 10

Blood knight x 5
FC
Hatred banner

Blood knight x 5
FC

Chaos list (not exact)
-------------------------
tzeentch wiz lvl 2
dispel scroll
disc

nurgle wiz lvl 2 (gen)
+1 PD item

Chaos knights x 5
frenzy banner

marauder horseman x 5

troll king special character

chaos trolls x 3

Highlights of DOC
-----------------
Fickering fire from the herald and the 2 horrors unit kept rolling str 1-2 hits on the ghouls and blood knights only rolling str 7 in the last turn when only the vampires are left. Tzeentch fire storm got off thrice but did like 12 wounds (4 each), gift of chaos did moderate damage throughout the game to the compact VC ghouls unit.

Flamers fought in CC with 1 unit of blood knights and lose combat but rolled insane courage for their 1st instability test, only dropping to half strength when an ending game IF winds of undead killed 2 of them. Every turn flamers did damage to the undead horde preventing them from growing too big.

Blue scribe was very powerful, sucking 5 PD in just 1st turn of the VC, and dropping a comet of cassandora which did moderate dmg to the undead ghouls. Subsequent turns saw it casting flaming sword TWICE... but its ability to absorb PD was invaluable and gave the chaos side much need PD.

Highlights of Mortal chaos
---------------------------
Nurgle wiz everyturn cast assassination spells to drop the vampires to 1 wound, wasting VC side PD to cast invocation to regain back the wound. Killing a vampire with troll king vomit and an assassination spell combo.

Trolls with troll king flank charge a unit of blood knights to save the flamers lock in CC.

Troll king further prove himself by solo charging a decimated VC bunker with 3 surviving vampires (lord + normal) and wiping them out in the last turn.

A unit of marauder horsemen flee&bait a unit of frenzy blood knights on the flanks of the battle and set them up for a charge from the chaos knights which broke them and ran behind to the VC main battleline to rear charge the ghouls bunkers.

Highlights of VC
----------------
Most invocation was successful with chaos side only dispelling dangerous spells like van hels, curse of years.

A unit of blood knights charge right into the main battleline of Daemons but concentrated firepower from flamers + spells kill 4 of them before they could charged into CC. The blood knight unit was invoc back and the 2 blood knights did 3 wounds on the flamers but lucky rolls by daemons cause them to be flank charged.

With VC heavy hitters gone, VC decided to concentrate on casting curse of years to kill off models but daemons invul save minimize the damage, chaos knights without any invul save fell prey easily to the curse of years.

A unit of ghouls manage to break and chase down the chaos trolls.

An IF winds of undead in late turn did moderate damage to the chaos side.

VP:
DOC lost 105
Chaos mortals lost 600+
VC lost 1,9k+

Massacre win for CHAOS. VC left a unit of ghouls at full strength.

Weekly WH fantasy game

Game 1: WE vs VC 1k
WE massacre VC.
VC suffer from very bad magic rolls through out the game failing to cast invocation even on 3s, most of the time.

Game 2: DOC(me) vs VC 1k

DOC solid vic
Was suppose to be a close game (minor vic for DOC) but VC player (3rd time playing VC) misreading curse of years was supposed to be a RIP spell cause this game to be a solid vic to the DOC. VC got some amazing luck early in the game with 2 IF curse of years. DOC player (me) was fluffing like nobody business early in the game - Herald of khorne fluff his atks rolling triple 1s for hitting skeletons, hatred rolling two 1s and one 2s... but DOC prevail in the end winning through capturing 3 banners and 1 quarter

VC: 522
DOC: 405 + 300 + 100 + 50 + 50 = 905
VP diff: 905 - 522 = 383

WH fantasy WE vs VC 1k

DT - WE vs DF - VC, both of them are using the two armies for the 1st time. DF got interested in VC after I played my VC against his DE a few wks ago. (no battlereport, but minor victory for the VC if anyone is interested in the result) DT was forced to use WE since he was coming to watch an intro 40k game and did not brought any armies...

Deployment for both armies. (middle finger intimidation by DF)

Turn 1 WE.
dryads and treekins move forward. Treeman and 2 spellsingers hide in the forest to "tree surf" forward.

Turn 1 VC.
Everything move forward. Raise dead 2 units of zombies and invocate them to 10 & 7 each. banshee killed 2 dryads with her scream. (DF not knowing forest spirits have magical atks.)

WE turn 2.
Dryads on left flank charge the banshee/carin wraith unit, dryads on centre charge the zombies in front of them.

Dryads destroy the banshee unit with wounds and CR losing 1 in return and overran into the skeletons unit behind the banshee. Centre dryads destroy the zombies and overran into another zombie unit.

VC turn 2.
Zombies reform to face the rear of dryads engage with the skeletons. Nothing much move, much effort was spend into van hel-sing zombies into the rear of dryads but all was dispelled and book of arkan burn out, back luck with dice rolling on VC side and centre zombies (engage with dryads) was just boost to 10 zombies.

Centre dryads fluff their atks and only manage to kill 3 zombies with hits and CR.

Left flank dryads dealt 5 wounds, needing 5s for ar sv the skeleton saved 4 wounds and killing 2 dryads in return. Dryads fail their break test and ran straight into the zombies in the rear.

WE turn 3.
treekin charge into the zombies to help the fluffy dryads in the centre.

Spellsinger miscast, rolling 10 and taking a str 8 hit but was not wounded. (damn lucky)

Zombies no match for the treekins and dryads. Treekin overran forward.

VC turn 3.
Zombies charge the dryads in the centre and both skeletons and zombies unit reform to face the centre.

VC player miscast on 1st spell, a crucial magic phase lol, taking a wound from the str 2 hit miscast.

The 18 zombies was no match for the dryads and was wiped out.

Dryads overran into the 20 skeletons that reformed earlier.

WE turn 4.
Treekins move around the corner to the rear of the VC battleline. Dryads killed 13/15skeletons through CR and wounds. 2 skeletons tarpit the whole dryads unit for a flank charge later.

VC turn 4.
Zombies charge the tar-pit dryads. Corpse cart move behind the dryads hoping to catch them if they break and run from skeletons.

Not much luck with invocation only 5 skeletons from the 2 vampires and necro.
CC- skeletons and zombies lost 2 each but won through CR and dryads break from CC, running away from zombies since they got higher U/S. If they ran from Skeletons they would be caught by the corpse cart. Dryads run far enough to escape the pursing skeletons.

WE turn 5.
Dryads rallied, treeman charge the corpse cart, treekin wheel and move at 5" closer to main battleline. Treeman killed the necro on the corpse cart and corpse cart lose a wound from CR.

VC turn 5.
Skeletons charge the dryads.

Invocation raise back 13 skeletons.

CC- dryads killed 4 skeletons and lost 1 of their own. Skeleton win by 1 CR and dryads broke on LD 7. Rolling to flee, dryads rolled 3 and DF (VC player) decide to be funny and shouted double ones and he rolled double ones LOL!
treeman took corpse cart down to last wound.

WE turn 6.
Dryads rallied. Treekin charge the skeletons and a lucky shot from the spellsinger killed a vampire. Treeman finish off the corpse cart but cant overun. The skeletons did not wiped out and stay for turn 6 VC CC.

VC turn 6.
Vampire general move away to try cast raise dead x2 to claim 2 quarters but both failed to cast. With last dice to cast invocation which was easily dispel by WE.

Treekin killed 4 skeletons and got them down to half strength taking 0 wounds in return. Game ends.

Massacre win for the WE.

VC left an above half strength skeletons unit and a full wound vampire and only killing a unit of 10 dryads.

2nd battle for my VC vs Chaos mortals 1k

Preparing the table.

VC list

Vampire (raise dead and invocation)
master of black arts
wristband of black gold
Heavy ar that immune KB

Necromancer (invocation)
mount on corpse cart with unholy lobestone

Zombies x 22

skeletons x20
FC

Graveguard x 15
FC

Carin wraith x3
banshee

Chaos list (something like this, dont have the exact list)

Tzentzth sorcerer lvl 2

chaos sorcerer (fire magic) lvl 2

Troll king x1

Trolls x 3

chaos knight x 5

maruader horseman x5

chaos hounds x5

VC got 1st turn and the table after VC movment phase.

The VC is WYSIWYG except for skeletons, their amt which are represent by dice.
carin wraiths hiding in forest during turn 1, graveguard move up with vampire hiding behind and a corpse cart close by to support. The rest just stand around waiting for invocation.

The Chaos white bases are the 3 x trolls and a troll king unit.
The grey movment tray are chaos hounds.
The black bases on the far right are maruader horseman.
The black bases with a maurader on it are chaos knights.

Zombie unit after 2 successful invocation. After this pic was taken the camera ran out of battery.

The battle ended with my VC getting massacred.

VP:

VC: 0
chaos mortals: 1.2k + lol....

The only hardhitting units I have in this list was the carin wraiths. I made a mistake on turn 2 when i misread their movement for 8 and move 16 out from the forest, my opponent pointed out my mistake (move back 4" & was short for my scream atk) and my carin wratih unit was subsequently magic to death on the chaos turn 2.

The graveguard charge the trolls but with hand weapon was unable to kill them off, only inflicting 2 wounds from turn 3 close combat to turn 6 which they were wiped out by trolls normal atk and the D6 no ar save vomit from the troll king. A raise dead unit of zombies also inflict 2 wounds on the trolls but only manage to bring down 1 and only 33% casuality (no vp).

The chaos knights demolish 30+ zombies in 2 close comabt turns and killing the skeleton units in 1 turn. (chaos knights madness!!)

The corpse cart manage to kill off a single maruader horseman with the help of a raise dead unit of zombies but was unable to cut them down.

Anyway at the end, only my vampire and corpse cart+necro with half wounds was left, the others was all wiped out, counting table quarters and banners and units , Chaos got 1.2k and VC 0 lol.

Only highlight for VC was the vampire save 10+ fireball/fireblast/bolt of change spells lol. WRISTBAND OF BLACK GOLD !!!

My worst defeat in WH fantasy after playing for many years. Killed a grand total of 1 troll & 1 maruader horseman LOL.
