SM (Raptors) vs SW + IG 1850 Dead lock 7th

A grudge rematch against Krom again for the humiliating defeat in the last game using my HH Iron warriors. This time I would be using SM with raptors chapter tactics with some FW units thrown in.
No detail turn by turn battle report just a short summary with some pictures.

Wolves unleash!

SM storm talons got shot down trying to contest

SM static gunline

SW stormfang (proxy) zoom in for the kill!

The game ended at turn 5 with the following victory points:

SM : SW+ IG
9     :  12

SW+IG victory!

A close game and could be a draw if we did not mixed up some rules like going to ground units cannot claim objectives. Krom had chose to go to ground with his IG troops near objective #4, I would have flat out my land speeder to capture objective #4 and get 2 victory points as I have 2 capture objective #4 cards on hand. Anyway we learn as we play more games.
Luck was also on Krom side as his opening hand cards were mostly objectives in his deployment zone and he promptly got 4 points in first turn while half my cards were to capture objectives on Krom deployment zone LOL. Till next time grudge match again!

40K Apocalypse 14k battle SM + SM VS Eldar + DA

Played another Apocalypse game organize by the gaming group. Due to personal obligations we only have 4 players turning up in the end and decided to go with 2 vs 2.

7000k a side with a total 14k point battle.

Battle: Exterminatus !
SM VS DA/Eldar

More pictures and detail turn by turn report can be found in the gaming group website - Anything but ones blog spot.

Some of the pictures I took during the game:

Mass fire fight & combat

The Eldar/DA capturing the no man's land objective

SM drop pods reinforce the deployment zone

DA terminators DS to target the SM forward unit

DA terminators DS into SM deployment zone

SM counter attack!

DA terminators with librarian charge the Castigator

DA terminator survived the Castigator assault

Castigator Knight titan Close combat with DA terminator
Castigator knight titan was subsequently charged by DA imperial knight titan and with only 1 hull point left, the castigator exploded from the imperial knight hammer of wrath attack. The apocalyptic explosion caught the imperial knight titan killing it instantly which trigger another apocalyptic explosion! Miraculously the DA terminator (pic above) survived both the apocalyptic explosions!!!

Single Stern guard capturing Eldar/DA objective

After around 6 hours of gaming, we ended the game at turn 3.

Strategic victory points
SM : DA/Eldar
21   : 20

SM victory !

Was a close game and SM won by 1 SVP.
Looking forward to the next apocalypse game and higher points apocalypse battle - more carnage!

Iron warriors (HH) VS Space wolves + Ultra Marines (7th) 1850

Had a game of 40k with gaming buddy Krom for the first time since 2012. Didn't get to play a game against him as I was really busy with work for the past years and he went to the US for phd studies.

I will be trying out the Horus heresy Iron warriors list. Krom will be using the 7th edition Space Wolves book with a unit of ultra marines (bikers) allies.

We played the eternal war mission: Emperor's will (rolled) since Krom had not been playing 40k for years and not familiar with the 7th edition rules.

Deployment: Long table edge (rolled) but we decided to go with dawn of war deployment for less hassle. If we had go with long table edge, it will be to my advantage as my shooty army will have more turns to shoot before the SW can reach my lines.
Arjac and terminators drop pod in to IW lines on turn 1
  • With night fight in play on turn 1, around 1/3 of IW shooting was saved by cover saves. Didn't managed to neutralised any threats.
  • All the Space wolves units rush head long into the IW lines, Arjac and terminators were only able to glance some of IW vehicles. No unit was destroyed in either turn 1.

Storm Fang proxy (Valkyrie) zoom in to deliver death
Turn 2

  • IW concentrated all their shooting on Arjac and terminators but the Anvil of Fenris just wont die and a single terminator survived.
  • Most of the Space Wolves and Ultra marines (bikers) were just within charge range of  IW units.

Turn 3 for IW was their last ditch effort to kill the most important threats, Arjac was finally gunned down but the bikers and thunder wolves cavalry were still alive and ready to charge. SW wasted no time in charging with all their CC units. The storm fang drop off a unit of blood claws and their 39 attacks was enough to wreck the predators. The storm fang was very deadly with its arsenal of weapons and versatility, but lousy rolls by Krom kept the IW vehicles alive for a little longer.
The Valkyrie proxy was used as he just received his storm fang from the store on the day of game.

Iron warriors charged by Wolf lord on Thunder wolf on turn 7
With SW charging into close combat on turn 3, it was a matter of time before the thunder wolves cavalry destroy everything. The bikers wiped the Rapier squad in 3 phase of CC with lousy rolls on both sides and proceed to wreck the basilisk and flat out back to their deployment zone to cap the objective. The thunder wolves cavalry unit was destroyed in the end leaving only the wolf lord to mop up the rest of the stragglers.

Game end on turn 7 with SW: 17 VP to IW(HH): 7 VP.

I only have 2 models left at the end of game.

End game thoughts:
Another defeat! though not the usual tabled game but its either I sux real bad or the 30k HH list cant compete with 40k list. Scheduling another game with Krom before he goes back, this time I'm going to use a 40k book and see how it goes.

Draw

SM have 1 squad of tac marines and 1 devastator squad and 1 biker and Kosarro khan.

End game thoughts
Was lucky to have a draw in this game. BA would be massacred again if not for Beardy One outflanking to my DC dreadnought. A mistake which nearly cost him this game. He was unlucky late game for not destroying the immobilized furioso which could win him the game.  If he had waited for me to reach his lines, like what Krom and Jaeroler did with their SW and IG in my previous games using the same list. It would be a turkey shoot for his ultra marines since my list dont have much long range and AT stuffs.

I want to play dark eldar so can be both shooty (eat lance DANTE!) and killy (Incubi + beasts of doom)

Tale of six gamers

Guess I'm probably a week late with my entry for the tale of six gamers. Promised to paint up ten space marines scouts by sunday. Accomplished that but was prevented from posting them online by a faulty internet connection. Only managed to get it repaired yesterday.

Anyways, here's my SM scouts, tried to build them up in line with my '300' Blood Angels successor chapter (hope I don't incur any copyright issues here).

They're actually two units of five each led by a sergeant. One squad is armed with bolters while the other is more offensive minded and armed with bolt pistols and close combat weapons

Squad 1 armed with bolt pistols and CCW Squad 2 with bolters

Batrep 3k IG + orks VS 3k SM + SW

Played a 3k 40k game today with the regular guys. Having just received my battle mission book, wanted to try 1 of the missions inside. We settle with "Prepared assault" as was played out in WD363.

Mission: Prepared Assault
Teams: IG (evils ones) + Orks VS SM + SW (3k /team)
Objectives: 3
Deployment: Prepared Assault deployment

Turn 1 after deployment

Ork horde prepare to rush the flanks (LR proxy BW)

Thunder wolves at the front lines (hungry wolves)

Vulkan (Right: in black) with tactical marines holding centre objective

Solo Wolf guard survived Rhino explosion

More Tac squads prepare to unleash hell on IG flanks

1st Rank fire , 2nd Rank fire!!

Game ends on turn 5 with the Adeptus Astartes holding 2 objectives.

Battle highlights:
-The game winner unit was the thunder wolf cavalry. The thunder wolves sweep into IG line and kill all the troops, also withering down warboss + nobz unit before a 2nd TWC unit wiped them out.
-A rallied surviving single TWC charge in on turn 5 to kill the last unit of guardsman denying a draw securing a absolute victory for the Emperor's Finest.
-Wolf guards with melta guns and landspeeder with melta suicide push forward to destroy most of orks transport, grounding the ork boyz and using cyclone missles to kill them off.
-Lousy rolls by IG lascannon team failed to destroy most of the rhinos holding troops.
-Master of ordnance damage was negated by cover saves offered by area terrain.
-Colossus was constantly weapon destroyed and stunned prevented it from wiping Vulkan and his tactical squad holding 1 objective.
-Ork mega dread was tar-pit by 6  master crafted thunder-hammer wielding terminators, eventually destroying the mega dread after 6 rounds of combat. 13 shoota boyz came to relief the mega dread but was smash to a bloody pulp by the terminators.
-Hell hounds were destroyed and disabled by missiles, preventing them from flaming the TWC running rampage in IG line.

Funny moments:
-A landspeeder was weapon destroyed by a stray plasma cannon shot and in the following turn was destroyed by a scattering master of ordnance blast.
-Stray rounds did nothing lol... (fan was switch off to prevent any external interference)
-Colossus again survived the battle! suffering multiple, wep destroy, immob, stun, shaken but was not destroyed. Earning itself veteran status. (survived 3 battles - 1x1750, 2x3000)

After battle thoughts:
This mission really favour mechanize armies and a need to push into the centre 2 objectives with more stuffs than your opponent can kill.

Batrep 1k orks vs 1k sm, 1k eldar (no pics)

Played 2 small games this weekend , 1 against SM and 1 against eldar. No pictures or batrep pics. (lazy hehehe)

Orks vs SM (1k)
Mission: Capture & control
Deployment: pitch battle (was DOW lol...)

Both players put their objectives behind their deployment zone. SM wiping orks troops early in the game prevented any chance of victory for orks. SM landspeeder storm with scouts nearly capture orks objective (only 2" away). While orks warboss +nobz clear out the tactical marines holding the SM objective.

Game end on turn 5, with a roll of 2.
0 - 0 objective DRAW.

Funny moments: Tech marine running away from warboss got shot in the back by warboss TL shoota. (tech marine ran from 3rd storey ruin to gnd floor but could not escape the wrath of the warboss.)

Orks vs Eldar (1k)
Mission: Capture & control (again lol...)
Deployment: DOW...

Slugga boyz on trukk with warboss + nobz on B.wagon rush the eldar objective, clearing the wraithguard and storm guardians holding eldar objective. While Seer council in wave serpent clear out the shoota boyz and lootas defending the orks objective.

Game end on turn 6, as only non scoring troops was left on both sides and no chance of wiping each other out due to the distance apart.
0 - 0 objective DRAW.

Funny moments: Farseer fail reroll invul saves consecutively! (led by example goes wrong)

The small games prevented much option for the armies, bringing only 2 troops each. Alot of firepower was concentrated on eliminating the scoring units and resulting in draw for both sides.

Planetstrike 4.5k battle (orks + IG + Iyandan eldar vs SW + SM + eldar)

Played my biggest 40k planet strike game last wk. It was a farewell game for our gaming grp member Sam (Iyandan player) who was leaving for Aus.

Mission: Desperate assault
Atk strategems: planet quake bomb
def strategems: void shield, machine spirit
objectives : 3 bastions

Defers: 1.5k*3 (orks,IG,Iyandan Eldar)
Atkers: 1.5k*3 (SW,SM,Eldar)

The game was stop at end of turn 3 as it was running late and to catch the last train and work the next day some had to leave.

Highlights of battle:

-Canis wipeout a squad of banshees with his thunderwolf cavalry.
-IG firing power took out the thunderwolf cavalry, leaving Canis alone.
-IG mass las guns took out another chunk of fenrisian wolves claiming objectives.
-Prince Yriel charge Canis wolfborn and killed him easily.

-ork warboss killed 4 thunderwolf cavalry + a wolflord on thunderwolf. warboss dying in the process.
-Stompa arrived in def turn 1 and killed 3 damned legionnaire + 2 fenrisian wolves, wep destroying 1 landspeeder and stunning another landspeeder.
-2 multi-melta landspeeders wreck the stompa in 1 turn rolling 3 sixes and 1 five.
-Ork nobz arrived with battlewagon and took out eldar bright lances firing base.
-16 shoota boyz mow down a squad of swooping hawks.

-Defenders' bastions was completely destroyed by eldar brightlances in turn2.
-IG bane wolves hose down some SM holding objectives.
-striking scorpians clean out a horde of fenrisian wolves claiming objectives.
-Wave serpent ramming an ironclad dreadnought and immobilzing it.
-Vulkan was hiding in atker's bastion the whole game hahaha. (i think)

Thats all I can remember, being the ork player I only could remember most of the orks battles.

End game (turn 3):
Defenders still hold 2 uncontested bastions at end of turn 3. VICTORY TO defenders.

Conclusion:
Very fun game, I find it pretty epic, big battles does change the game alot. Tons of dice thrown around and it was very brutal, lots of models die in just a turn. Future big battle games need to be schedule earlier so it can be completed.

40k Planetstrike DE vs SM 1k

Tried a planetstrike game last wk. My 1st planetstrike game and barely know the planetstrike rules. Went into the battle like a headless Archon.

We decided to go with the 1st mission (planetfall) and 1 objective as both me and my opponent are new to planetstrike and using this game to learn the new stuffs.

The game was played with actual models, though no photos were taken as my camera was on loan to a friend. Trying out a new format of battle report.

Attacker - Dark eldar
Atk Stratagem - Dawn assault
Defender - Space marine (vanilla marines)
Def Stratagem - Power generator
Planetstrike mission - Planetfall
Objective: 1 bastion

Legend.
Pedro kantro Darnath Lysander was the HQ.

Pre game map.

Defender (SM)
-Deploy 1 unit of 6 scouts in the ruins.
-1 unit of 5 terminators behind the aegis def lines.
-pedro + captain + 1 unit of 5 terminators deploy inside the bastion.
-1 unit of 10 tactical marines with rhino in reserve.

Attacker (DE)
- Roll 4 firestorm
- Aiming the scouts, non hit... all scatter the perimeter outside the ruins....

Unlucky pre-game rolls for me... onto DE turn 1.

DE (turn 1)
-Raider park at edge of ruins. Archon+incubi dismount 2" into ruins and charge into the scouts inside the ruins.
-scouts easily decapitated.
-talos Deepstrike and charge the terminators.(error here, misread the shock&awe rule)
-talos deal 2 wounds but was saved by terminators invul, in return ate alot of pfs.
-Dawn assault in effect, cant see anything in the dark...
-need a 4 for dawn assault to end, I roll a 4... (will be shot to bits by SM next turn)

SM (turn 1)
-rhino reserve came from atk table edge, flame + shot the warriors and they panic off
-1 warrior + 1incubi die from mass storm bolters, cyclone missile, intercepter gun, h.bolter

DE (turn 2)
-Archon retinue embark and raider flatout towards aegis def line.
-2nd warr sq Dark lance the bastion, no dmg.
-ravager shaken rhino and killed 3 tactical marines.
-Jetbike enter play from table edge and charge into terminators, killing 1 and losing 1.

SM (turn 2)
-Tactical marines embark and rhino pop smoke.
-Terminiators PFs jetbikes to bloody pulp.
-Mass fire from bastion cause 2 pen, 1 glance on raider. Cover sv both pen. Glancing cause wep (dark lance) destroyed.
-rhino hunter killer missile miss ravager.

DE (turn 3)
-ravager + 2nd warr sq fire at rhino only shaken it. ( damn smoke cover sv!!)
-3rd warr sq come in from reserve.
-archon + incubi assault terminators wiping them out and conslidate behind aegis def line.

SM (turn 3)
-tactical marines dismount and flame+bolter the DE warr sq killing 8, but warr sq(left 2 guys) pass their morale!
-concentrate firepower from bastion+SM did not do any dmg to archon and incubi.

DE (turn 4)
-archon+incubi embark raider to hide.
-3rd warr sq dark lance bastion, no dmg.
-ravager + 2nd warr sq killed 5 marines, tactical marines pass morale also!

SM (turn 4)
-bastion+SM+rhino concentrate firepower on 3rd warr sq, killing 7 and panic them off table.
-2 tactical marine assault 2nd warr sq killing them easily.

DE (turn 5)
-ravager killed the remaining tactical marines.
-raider move to capture bastion. (objective)

SM (turn 5)
-bastion+SM+rhino fired on raider, exploding it... 1 incubi died in the explosion.
-A "5" is rolled, game goes to turn 6...

DE (turn 6)
-ravager shaken the rhino again!
-archon stunned the bastion with his agonizer.

SM (turn 6)
-SM HQ+terminators leave bastion and assault the archon.
-Archon and incubi killed 2 terminators.
-Archon failed 2+ invul save and died.... smashed to bits by PFs.
-incubi cut down by pedro and captain.
-A "4" rolled, game goes to turn 7.

DE (turn 7)
-ravager last ditch effort to kill off the terminators, all wounds saved by invul.

SM (turn 7)
-Mass fire power from everything the SM had shot at the ravager, wrecking it.
-DE tabled!

Game ends
VICTORY TO SPACE MARINES!!

End game thoughts
long live the corpse emperor!! hehehe

I was too hasty with my HQ raider, rushing it forward solo too early and exposing it to unnecessary risk. I should also bring more raider squads to rush in during turn 5 onwards. Hiding them behind ruins if they came in early during the game. Using warrior squads on foot were just too slow and they end up getting slaughter. Bad mistake not using DE advantage of mobility.
Back to drawing board with new list.

WH 40k SM vs CSM 1.2k

Played my 2nd 5th ed 40k game yesterday after an absent of 5yrs+ since 3rd ed 40k. Was still confuse with some rules (did not finish reading the rule book). Anyway we rolled seize ground and pitch battle for our game and rolling 3 objectives. Sam the SM player won the roll and place 2 objectives near his deployment zone, and me place 1 near mine.

Some pics from the game.

Turn 1 for SM. The grey power station thingy and the fallen chimney beside it are the 2 objectives in SM zone, while the rock-like Monument is the 3rd objective, in CSM zone.

Turn 2 CSM termis deep-strike into SM zone to do some dmg to the rhino, instead shaken and immobilise the rhino even with 5 melta shots from their combi-wep.

SM turtle near their objectives.

CSM also turtle near their objective.

SM run back to hide inside the power station objective after getting lash by daemon prince.

Last pic of the game, SM HQ in rhino zoom into CSM deployment zone and began their carnage. Banishing a daemon prince back to the warp, killing 15+ traitor marines and disabling a chaos predator. With support fire from devastators disabled a chaos vindicator also.

SM: 1 objective (power station)
CSM: 0 objective

Victory for SM. Emperor BE PRAISE!!!
